Preparing for Whole 30

preparing for whole 30

This was the week of preparation for me!! I made homemade ketchup and mayo.  I figured this was the week to get it all done and ready for the next week (especially since I have to start going back to work).

Okay, I was all ready to make the homemade condiments. I started with the ketchup, which was super easy and tastes delicious.
Then I went to the mayo, ugh… the mayo!! It was a disaster. I don’t know what I did wrong but it was like oily soup (yuck). I think I will go to the health food store and see if I can just buy one!!

After, I got condiments made (well really just ketchup,LOL) it was time for the grocery shopping I had to do. I Knew the first shopping trip was going to be the longest and worst because I am new at this. I had to read every label. Also, I had to buy a lot of new things but I had a grocery list, which helped me a lot.
Also, the more I do it the more comfortable I will be with getting the things I know are Whole 30 approved. So, I am super grateful I decided to start this program before school started. Now, I had the time to prepare for success!

So for today, I am finishing with all the preparing. I am going get all the fruits for the week, cut it up, so it is ready to eat for the week.
Plus, I am going to boil eggs, cook some chicken to have handy in the fridge, and make spinach frittata, so it is all ready for breakfast tomorrow morning (trying a Whole 30 recipe, will share if I like it)! Like I said before, for me preparation is key for me to succeed!

Well, I am off to finish everything up, I will be posting weekly on my progress of Whole 30 and how I am doing. I will also post some of the recipes I am trying.

Oh, did I mention I recruited my husband, Jared to try this adventure out with me!! It is always easier to do something new if you have a wing man. I am so glad he is willing to be my wing man in this adventure! Wish us luck! 🙂

Our New Puppy Labradoodle

New Puppy Alert at our House!!

Introducing our new labradoodle, Daisy July (middle name came from my son who wanted to help name her and he thought since we got her in July that should be her middle name, cute right?)

We have been wanting a new puppy for years (okay when I say we, I mean me and the kiddos not so much my husband, LOL)!

Well, we finally got her and she is the sweetest thing ever! I mean she is a beautiful puppy with green eyes. She is calm and loving (most the time)! But what I forgot about having a puppy is it is like having a newborn all over again.
Ugh.. I forgot how hard it is too have to constantly be watching something! And let me tell you, I mean I have to watch her like a hawk when she is awake!! Plus, the waking up in the middle of the night and the early mornings, ugh!
BUT on the plus side she is the sweetest thing and I know this  crazy puppy stage only last a few month and then she will be sleeping longer at night and will be totally potty trained, which will make her so much more enjoyable, LOL!

I was worried at first how my other labradoodle, Zoey would do with her because she has been the baby of the family for 5 years. I didn’t want her to feel replaced or get ignored! But honestly I think she gets more attention now than she has in years because everyone is worried she is going to feel bad. LOL!
I think at first Zoey thought what the?? but now they play together and seem to be getting along great! In the future I hope they become best friends!!

Well for now we are extremely glad we decided to take the plunge and get a new puppy (hopefully it stays that way, haha)! But stay tuned to see how this sweet and sometimes crazy puppy becomes great doggy!! More posts to come on Daisy July!!

Whole 30 Diet

Okay, so I know you guys know I like to try different types of diets out. I want to find the perfect one for me! I also don’t like to call it a “diet” because what I am looking for is a lifestyle change. A healthier lifestyle change for me and my family.

So,  I’ve been doing some research and I decided to try the Whole 30 diet. Now I know this might be a difficult one for me to succeed because I don’t get to eat any carbs.
Which in my mind equals no success but I am changing that mindset and I know I can do it.
I actually want to prove to myself that I can do it for me and my health.
I have been feeling run down, moody, and overall not very motivated to do this “healthy lifestyle” thing, so I know this is the kick in the butt I need.

The Whole 30 diet is basically a Paleo type way of eating, where you don’t eat any grains, dairy, sugar, alcohol, legumes, or processed foods!
On the Whole 30 diet you basically eat protein, vegetables, and fruit. It is a way for your body to heal itself.

Now they call it the Whole 30 diet because you guessed it, it is 30 days long, after 30 days you can slowly start introducing foods back into your diet. You see how they affect they way you feel physically and mentally.

I’m excited to see the change it creates for me. For me, think sugar is one of my biggest culprits in gaining weight. I crave it and I want it but it also goes straight to my butt!! LOL!!

Ever since my knee injury, I’ve struggled with intense workouts which makes me sad.
So I know my nutrition needs to get on key. They say 80% of weight loss is nutrition and abs are made in the kitchen, so let’s see if we can make some abs! 🙂

My new adventure and healthy lifestyle change with the Whole 30 diet will begin August 1!!! If any of you want to join me on this adventure message me or comment below and we can do it together!! The more the merrier, right?! 🙂

Motivational Monday #21- Perfect Moment

Good Morning! So… my summer is flying by (like it always does 🙁 ) but I have had some great experiences, created some perfect moments, and made some an amazing memories! I always think summer is a time to have quality time with my family and “really” spend time with them but in reality everyday should be like summer, I don’t need that “perfect time” to spend with my family. I need to make that time all the time! So my goal is to spend more quality time with my kiddos and husband! I need to make sure I am putting down my phone more and taking the moments I have with them and make them as perfect as they can be!! Life goes by fast people, just like summer, so make the best of every moment you can! Have a wonderful week friends! Enjoy.

Motivational Monday #20- Look Within

Hey! Hey!! How is everyone doing today? I hope everyone is doing great and ready for another great week. There is a lot of heartache in the world lately and it is hard to keep your head up and to stay positive but if we don’t try, what else do we do??? Everyone needs to look within themselves and find the greater good of yourself and others.
We have to be the ones that change all the negative into positive! I think we have to teach others how to keep their heads up. We have to teach our children their is good out there and they will make  a different if they try! We have to stand together and help others around you know things can change, if we don’t just give up!!
Please friends, lets change all the negative with positive! Show your children how to love others and how to help others in need! Let’s all have a change in attitude, it will make a world of difference! Enjoy your week!

Honey Mustard Chicken Salad

Honey Mustard Chicken Salad

Hey Friends! Who doesn’t LOVE a fresh cool salad on a hot summer day (and let me tell you where I live it is HOT), so in the summer we live on salads and it is fun to get creative and add different things in them to change it up a bit like fruit!

I found this recipe in my new Fixate cookbook and decided to try it out. I did alter it a bit like I bought my dressing because lets be real here I just don’t have time to make my own dressing or want too! LOL! I also added baby arugula lettuce because I simply love the little bit of spicy it has.

The best part is..

This salad has a good balance of protein, veggies, and a bit of fruit for a complete lunch or in our house we had it for dinner! This salad is kid tested and Husband APPROVED! Hope you all love this delicious chicken salad as much as we did!
